About Cragganmore Distillery

Speyside is considered the birthplace of whisky in Scotland.

This region of plains and hills enjoys a particularly mild climate, which is why it is often referred to as the Scottish "golden triangle".

It is in a recess of the valley that the Cragganmore distillery (named after the nearby mountain Craggan Mor, which means "the great rock" in Gaelic) was founded in 1869 by John Smith.

Unlike other distilleries in Speyside, it uses spring water marked by rock, which underlines the fruity, complex and floral character of its whisky, a singular mineral dryness.

The shape of the distillery's stills also gives it an extraordinary aromatic richness, evolving between sweetness and austerity.

It was these unique stills, designed by John Smith himself, that quickly earned him his reputation as Speyside's best producer.
